Boomerang Pass — Digital Hallway Passes — Safe. Simple. Accountable.
FERPA Statement

Student Privacy Matters.

Boomerang Pass is designed with a privacy-forward posture and recognizes that schools and districts must evaluate student-data practices carefully under FERPA and related policies.

A Careful, Plain-Language Statement

This page is a clear statement of design intent, data-minimization principles, and willingness to work with schools on privacy review. It is not a claim of legal certification, and it does not assert compliance language that has not been formally established. We expect district and school review teams to do their own assessment — and we welcome it.

How Boomerang Pass Approaches Student Data

Boomerang Pass is built to support routine classroom accountability using minimal information. The platform is intentionally designed to avoid unnecessary location tracking and to focus on the ordinary pass information schools already manage as part of classroom operations.

School Review Still Matters

Schools and districts remain responsible for determining how any educational technology is used within their local policies and legal obligations. Federal student privacy guidance emphasizes transparency, careful vendor relationships, and appropriate protection of student information.

What We Aim to Support

  • Data minimization for routine hall pass use.
  • No GPS tracking product posture.
  • Pass data used for classroom accountability, not unnecessary surveillance.
  • Transparency with schools about what data is collected and why.
  • Appropriate district review of vendor practices, contracts, and implementation.

For District and School Review Teams

Schools evaluating Boomerang Pass may request information about data collected, access controls, retention practices, and implementation scope. That is appropriate and encouraged. Drew Snow can answer questions directly during and ahead of the beta period.
